I'm an avid cinephile, but my friend said that I shouldn't watch so many movies because they waste time and they expose me to the "media," as she put it. Now I feel guilty :( What should I say to her to justify my passion? Has anyone said something like this to you?

tell her she’s full of shit. and ask her to elaborate on what she means by the “media” because that is rather vague. film has the power to expose you to so many ideas and perspectives and places and people and history, etc. etc. Film is life.
